Wagner, gives insightful and thoughtful discussion of Chinese government policies and actions. Discussing the impact China has had on the global stage and the implications for the future in the economic, manufacturing and political spheres. As China increases their global power and influence it is important to understand the past and also to recognize where they are heading. From diplomacy to cyber warfare to becoming a global manufacturing powerhouse, it is important to understand China, past, present and future.

The author takes a bold, brash approach to analyzing Chinese foreign policy and says things that need to be said. China's take no prisoners approach to international relations got old a long time ago. It is high time the world's nations said they will no longer stand for what has become a Chinese bulldozer. The book is a much needed and welcome wake-up call to the Chinese government and the world's nations.

Having just picked up disc golf and becoming hooked about two months ago, I wanted to absorb as much about it as I could. I watched videos and read reviews for discs and listened to podcasts. The reflection time that you have between your shots was such a draw for me, and Patrick puts this time to the most positive use. The ideas and philosophies that he lays out are meant to sharpen the mental blade in the game, but they seamlessly bleed into your everyday life.I am a fifth grade teacher, and as I was reading I was picturing all of these positive thoughts ending up on my walls of my classroom. Reading this book and listening to his podcast has inspired me to start a disc golf club in my school. In the book he speaks of three groups, the mentor, the peer, and the protege. And how the positivity that you spread to the protege comes back to you in great amounts. My goal is to pass these ideas on to the next generations of players.I really can't say enough good things about this book. Read it.

My son loves disc golf. He's played all kinds of sports and understands that your mental state certainly affects your playing. Ultimately, that's what sports is about; sure, there's skill and luck involved, but ultimately the athlete who masters his or her mind prevails. I read about this book and ordered it for him for a birthday present. He almost teared up when he opened it and said he'd been wanting it for forever and how did I know. I purchased this book because I wanted to read something about the subject of disc golf which has become a hobby that I very much enjoy. Know this: it's not a book on how to play the game or even throw a disc. It's not a book on Zen either. It's a book on mindfulness and using the disc golf course as an avenue towards mindfulness that can potentially spill over into your life in a positive way. I've read it an re-read it and I love it. The author does not claim to be an expert in the ideas he is presenting, but instead humbly offers up ways for you to see your games in a new light and take lessons from them that can apply to all aspects of your life. For this I'm grateful to him for his effort. I would recommend this to any disc golf fan that wants to deepen their experience with the game.

I've read a good deal of material on Zen and other various spiritual practices, but the concepts in Zen in the Art of Disc Golf have stuck with me more than any other book because I love disc golf and everything is introduced in a disc golf context. All of the concepts are then shown to apply to many other aspects of life beyond disc golf as well. It's written in a very practical tone so it's comfortable to read and is understandable.There is very little material involving the mental and spiritual game of disc golf, so it's great to have more available especially since this is quality and thoughtful work.

I read this in one night with a pink highlighter. The writer makes clear connections between disc golf and other aspects of life. A good opportunity for reflection. I did find myself chuckling at times when the writer's inner zen master came on a little strong: "Disc golf can become a mirror of yourself once you learn to step back and see that you are the game and the game is you." To his credit, the writer spends the rest of the book clarifying this idea in concrete and relatable terms. I'll definitely take his advice and read a chapter between rounds and use my time on the course to reflect on the spiritual and mental sides of my game.

I really like what this book has to say in reguards to the sport of Disc Golf and the power of positive thinking. Writen from the stand point of an "average Joe" Disc Golfer with a good grasp on spirital balance, this book is a must read to help elevate your mind, body, and spirit and drastic lower your scores on the course. I have used this book to aid in my enjoyment of the sport and to help clear my mind of the things that used to keep me up at night. Thank You Pat for sharing this with the world... Maybe your next book could be "Zen and the art of Mankind"... A practical guide to getting along with everyone else... Then we could all get some sleep!!!

I read author William Alan Webb's speculative/adventure fiction with great pleasure. When I bought The Last Attack, i fully expected to read more of the same. Silly me. Webb has produced a solid historical account of the death of the 6th Panzer Army in the closing weeks of WWII. Last stands have a certain morbid fascination for many of us and the sacrifice of this major panzer unit makes a good, if unpleasant. read. WWII fans and fans of tanks and tank warfare will be acquainted with the tale, at least in broad outline. Webb brings us up to date in every respect, from the high command to the men in the front line, he tells us everything. Webb has a straight forward but fluid writing style that brings us a great deal of information but he does so in a way that constantly keeps our interest. This is not some dusty tome written by and for academics and impenetrable to the rest of us. He lets us in on Hitler's decision making process, which might be indistinguishable from madness (my interpretation, not Mr. Webb;s). He includes amazing details like the Panther tank unit that fought the Soviets while actually mounted on flat cars awaiting their train to pull them to the West. In another detail, a telling one to me, he wrote of a pair of brand new, factory fresh Pz. IV tanks that arrived at the front only to be immediately destroyed by their crews. The troops were already fleeing and could not put the tanks to use. This is a short book but a very useful one to history buffs. I have read of the fighting in Austria at the close of the war but never as fully complete a rendering. The post war status of Austria might well have hinged on the sacrifice of the 6th Panzer Army. What a nice surprise for me to read this book without preconception, (The reviewer is the author of The Armed Forces of Iran)

I picked this up because I am interested in the little known subject and because I have read William Alan Webb's superb "Last Brigade" series. The first thing to understand approaching this is that it is only 69 pages, and there is a limit of how much depth one can get in that space. That said and accepted, however, it give a marvelous synopsis of the last months of the 6th SS Panzer Army (of Battle of the Bulge fame) in its misbegotten attempts to save the Austria and the Hungarian oilfields for Hitler. As I expected, Webb is a master of both strategy and tactics as well as the military background to understand and explain, succinctly, events in Hungary in 1945. I left the slim volume with a much better grasp of "the big picture" of what happened and a desire to read more in detail. I strongly recommend the book to those interested in the fate of the legendary Waffen SS formations which had so distinguished themselves in the titanic struggle on the Eastern Front. No one struggling to understand the fall of Berlin should miss this account of events in Hungary which have everything to do with that event.

Concise history of the last German offensive of the War that most likely saved Austria of becoming a Warsaw Pact member.

This tiny story tells about the movement of a small force to Hungary at the end of the war. This movement was based on one of Hitler's orders. It could have been discussed fully in a high school history report. It is not worthy of a book at any price. Save your money.

More of an essay than a book.....cited references which I will read but this book is at best a glancing surface only level review of the situation with minimal actual facts backing up the short pamphlet.

The shape of post war Europe was set by this ill advised campaign ordered by Hitler. It's an overview of the campaign and what led up to it.

A nice addition to a WWII library. Makes sense of the campaigns in the Austria-Hungary region at the end of the war which is typically ignored in WWII histories.
