This book is a great read that appeals to gay people of all ages. This book needs to be on the shelves of high school and public libraries everywhere. When I was struggling as a teenager I would have loved to have seen this book and hear how people, just like me, really turned out to be happy, healthy, and successful. This book is very easy to read as the letters are of reasonable length and interspersed are some great comics making the same point.

I really enjoyed this book as it was extremely uplifting to see a successful adult connecting with their younger self at a moment of desperation, sadness, loneliness and when they are still trying to find out who they are. This for me is a book about hope and whilst the sexuality of the author is a very important trigger, I just engaged with each letter one by one because every teenager has to find their own identity and sexuality. It was a very easy read. I laughed and had an occasional tear.....thanks for a great compilation and a fabulous read!

I loved this book. It is original, heartfelt and real. I have bought copies to give to friends as well. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is LGBT or who knows and loves someone who is.

This anthology of letters didn't simply serve as a reminder that there is life after adolescence and you will have choices in your adult life that you might not have had as a child, but it's a really interesting read. I enjoyed each and every letter in this book. What a wonderful resource to pass along to young adults who may find exactly the words they needed to hear.

I read a few chapters, but was not compelled to keep readong

As a forty-something who was hoping for an uplifting read, I found this collection unexpectedly depressing. I feel like it was written by the ones who came out on top in life's arms race. Where are the writers whose prince or princess left them after 15 years and find themselves lonely? Or the ones shouldering all the responsibility for dying parents because their straight siblings have more important lives to live? Or the ones who are struggling professionally and financially?I feel that any smart teenager who reads this book will quickly see through the relentless whitewashing. The least one can do is to be honest. It boggles the mind that everybody's life in this book could really have turned out so great. Hasn't any of these writers ever regretted anything? Or struggled with illness or depression? Or indeed suffered any adversity after high school graduation? Reading this book just makes me feel even more of an outsider.

The drawing is charming and the people placed in various activities within the rooms add to the enjoyment. This book ya’ll! OMG, it was super cute! Just….::shakes hands in the air:: ugh, so good.Favorite Quotes:I found myself staring at her lips, willing her to lose the battle. Willing her smile to come back. I wanted to see that smile again, and I wanted it bad. Even weirder, I wanted to hear her sigh my name again in the worst way.When Lucas walked in, the world burst into Technicolor. This was the way it always was with Lucas. The colors in the room became more vivid, the air crackled with his restless energy, and his eyes met mine with a physical jolt.First of all, this cover. Isn’t it soooo stinking cute? I love it.Lola is a keeps to herself kinda girl. Doens’t want to be noticed by anyone so much that she intentionally rebuffs all attempts from potentional friends. I can understand her POV a little bit as she does have some quirkyness about her and she moves around a lot due to her military father. She sticks her nose up all the popular kids, intead of getting to know them, she assumes they are all lemmings and wouldn’t know originality if it was a stick they were hit with. I don’t know if she was spurned by someone and just gave up on everybody or if she genuinly believes that about people. Either way, it’s a bit close minded. But what she lacks in friendliness, she makes up for in talent, determination and caring. It may take a while to get her to let down her walls, but its worth it.Enter Lucas. He is a bit stereotypical… confident, good looking quarterback and slightly self-centered. Okay may more than slightly, which just feeds in to Lola’s image of the popular kids. But when they make a deal for each other’s benefit, hot damn sparks soar! I love the way their feelings are written in this story. They seem so genuine. Their relationship flows effortlessly and we don’t get any unwanted intentional misunderstandings that usually come around in a YA romance. Their flirty banter is just heart melting. I smiled and laughed a lot throughout this novella. I wish it had been longer. Hmmm, maybe I’ll just read it again.

My absolute favorite YA romance author, Maggie Dallen, is back with a new book and it’s time to celebrate. The Candy Cane Kiss is the sixth in her Briarwood High series of novels that are uncanny in being able to channel how I remember teenage romance (and angst) to be. It’s also a simply wonderfully fun story. I love it’s star Lola and wish that in my high school days I could have been both as free-spirited and as strong in character as she is. I also loved how Lucas grew over the course of the pages and that the other main supporting characters from Lola’s mom to her grandpa to Eleanor and Blake were so well drawn. This is especially true of the latter two. It’s so unusually refreshing to see an ex-girlfriend character still be a decent and kind person, or to have a “mean girl” who is emotionally complex and has a strong “good” side, but this author pulls off both in style. Frankly, but for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed, I could go on and on with praises. This book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and that it is (super) easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the Briarwood High series.

>Book Review – The Candy Cane Kiss>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 6th book in the Briarwood High series and ends in an HEA. Lucas is the popular QB, in the hospital to rehab from arm surgery. Lola is the candy striper who visits him in the hospital to spread holiday cheer. Lucas kisses Lola in order to make his ex jealous. Then he decides to ask Lola to play his pretend girlfriend in order to win his ex back. Lola is an army brat, used to moving a lot and being the new girl at school. She has a distinct retro style that kind of keeps her flying under the radar.>Of course the fake relationship will turn real, but it is the transformation of Lucas that is really the highlight of the book. I love the addition of the swing dancing, as this dancing is not a usual topic in a book. This book is appropriate for a young adult (16+) audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. Lucas was a bit too mean to Lola at times. Their HEA was great, but he was very hurtful.

You couldn’t get two more different personality types together... he’s one of the most popular guys in school, she’s a nerdy 🤓 retro-style girl with no friends. He’s grumpy. She’s cheerful. He’s all about image. She couldn’t care less about hers. He needs her... she doesn’t need him. He’s desperate for her help...-‘I wanted to take away her happiness and make her as miserable as I was. But seeing her shock and her embarrassment didn’t make me feel better. Before she’d arrived I’d felt like a pitiful washed-up loser, and now I felt like a pitiful, washed-up loser who made nerdy girls cry.’--‘The girl might be a nutjob but she had killer curves.’-Reminiscent of Cookie O’Gorman’s work, this story will definitely attract teenage audiences. The main characters are in high school and the lingo is definitely set for that audience. Some pretty strong language but nothing too inflammatory or offensive. Fast-paced and alternating points of view between the characters keep the audience’s attention. A recommended read for the target audience.

My biggest struggles before picking up this book were a relatively weak working memory of Geometry and Algebra, and a lack of set of effective strategies to solve the trickier GMAT quant problems in the time allotted. The explanations provided in GMAT specific prep-books provided complicated, often extremely lengthy methods for solving the problems. However, to succeed on the GMAT, you need to have a strong knowledge base, and a variety of strategies at your disposal that allow you to skip unnecessarily time consuming math to solve the problem and move onto the next one. This book provides you just that: an overview of the basics you need to know, and the tools to create a broad foundation of strategies you need to answer any question quickly and effectively. The strategies are a different way of approaching both Math and the Quant section, but ones that pay off immensely. I would recommend this to anyone looking to up their Quant score on the GMAT or any standardized test.

This book is written extremely well and I recommend it for anyone who is not just looking for preparing GMAT and GRE but also for landing consulting positions. Thanks to this book I was able to land a position at one of the top consulting firms in the world. I like the logical layout and the theory behind it that really helps to set the rules and approaches to do problem solving exercises and at the same time it is a great way to re-learn math that we tend to forget after school/university. A great guide and I would say the best I found in the market since I bought several books for GMAT and consulting applications. Also a very reasonable price! You will not be disappointed.

While I have never been particularly good at standardized tests, this book was beyond helpful in seeing and understanding word problems differently (I have used Kaplan, Manhattan Prep & Veritas in the past). It helped me make connections on a variety of basic math functions that I did not recognize before and offered a standardized approach to solve some of the trickier problems that plagued me in the past.I would highly recommend whether you are a novice or an advanced test taker.

This book helped me take my GMAT score up 100 points and was the only learning material I used for Quant. I am an average math student with ADD and this book was the perfect solution. Margo does an incredible job at breaking down complex topics into easy, digestible steps. The tables and labels approach, converting words to math, and overall layout of the book is pure gold. I fully recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve their GMAT score!

Fantastic book with great tips. I raised my score 100 points on the GMAT by implementing the techniques discussed therein. The author has a natural way of re-explaining things you do, or do not, know to promote better understanding and efficiency. As compared to other books I used to study, All Your Word Problems Solved, presents the material in a no nonsense manner and gives relevant example problems to reinforce the concepts.

I would give this book a negative rating if possible, I couldn't find not one single practice problem.All theory, but no practice problems, how are students supposed to learn if they cannot try some problems.

There are two versions of this book: one for guitar and one for ukulele. This one's for ukulele. If you are just strumming the chords (and you know your chords,) it doesn't really matter which book you get, but if you need reminders about where to put your fingers on the frets while you're playing the chords buy this one. It includes a chord diagram above every chord in every song which makes it much easier to learn the songs.Several reviews write that this book is too advanced for them, but there is a good variety of levels among the songs:BeginningNa Ka Pueo (C, F, & G7), Keyhole Hula (Kauhoa Mai) (G, C, D7), 'Ulili E (C, F, G7 with an extra note on the F that can be left off and a C5 that can be played as a simple C if desired)Intermediate (Each song has the basic chords with a couple of new chords added in to give it a richer sound. These range from super-easy chords like Gsus or G9, or more advanced chords like Bbmaj7 and Bbm)Over The Rainbow - What A Wonderful World Medley, White Sandy Beach, Panini Puakea, He Hawai'i Au, Hawaii 78, Hawaiian Like Me, 'Ama 'Ama, Ka Kua U'i, Kuhio BayAdvanced (Each song has a mostly more advanced chords that change quickly)Hene Kou 'Aka, Ka Huila Wai, Wind Beneath My WingsThe bottom line for most people looking at this book is whether they can play Over The Rainbow/What A Wonderful World and White Sandy Beach: On Over The Rainbow there's a G/B, but a plain old G sounds almost the same, there's a C played as a barre chord on the third fret, but a regular C works, there's an Am7 & an Em7, but in both cases plain Am & Em can be played. If you've been playing for a little while you should be able to play this song in a basic way. If you give yourself a little time to learn the Hawaiian strum that IZ uses on the CD, you can sound great on this song in a relatively short time. White Sandy Beach, on the other hand, has BbMaj7, Bbm & Bbm6 chords that cannot be omitted or substituted with more basic chords. They are barre chords, but they are not super-difficult and can be mastered with a little persistence. If you really want to "up" your game learn the fingerpicking pattern - it may take a few weeks of dedicated practice, but it's SO worth it!If you are a real beginner you could start with the easier songs and work your way up to the more advanced ones.All of these songs can be played with just the chords, but this book includes tabbed transcriptions for the exact fingerpicking that is played on the record by IZ. If you are branching out into fingerpicking it's a good way to challenge yourself, and remember that fingerpicking requires muscle memory, so keep at it until your fingers can play it without your brain thinking about it (my Dad used to have me walk around the yard or carry on a conversation with him while practicing my fingerpicking.) If you are an experienced fingerpicker you can see IZ's patterns and quickly incorporate them into your playing for a genuine Hawaiian sound.I've been playing music my entire life and in my experience it is really rare to find a book that is this accurate to what the artist plays on the recording. Everything is in the right key and the chords are all correct so you can play along with the CD and really get the feel for Hawaiian music as it is played here in the Islands. If you are newer to playing you might want to get a "Slow Downer" music app for your tablet or phone. This lets you play any songs that you have downloaded onto your device at a much slower tempo (but at the right pitch) while you are learning the trickier parts. Very helpful.I write reviews as a hobby for fun and it always makes my day when I find out that my reviews have helped someone, so leave a comment if you'd like, feel free to ask a question, or just say "Hi." Full disclosure: I did not buy this book, I checked it out of the library :DOne more tip for beginners: don't give up! If the song feels difficult when you try to play it, just keep at it a little everyday. You'll be amazed when one day you realize that you are playing it perfectly. Every time you challenge yourself with a song in this way your skill level increases exponentially. This is one of those rare music books that gives you the chance to really grow.

What a beautifully produced book. For all the pieces that I have learned to play, the chord charts are accurate. Although I will never NEVER match the amazing Ukulele skills and magnificent voice of IZ, I am having a great deal of fun learning many of the songs and entertaining my friends and family.IZ. You are greatly missed.

Product exactly as described... Very useful... Keep in mind that this book is geared more towards intermediate to advanced ukulele players... It's a great book once a person has mastered the ukulele a bit... All in all it's a great product.

So far, I'm just using this book to strum chords for some of the songs I like, and they are beautiful. The book also indicates how to pick individual notes if you want to come closer to the sound of the original recordings. One added benefit alternate fingerings for some chords. For example, the fingering for B7 is much easier than the one I'd been using.

Nice selection of songs, music and lyrics. I agree with another reviewer, it is mostly too advanced for my 'Ukulele skills, I've been playing just over a year. But I like the book, I attempt to play what I can, and look forward to one day being able to play it all. :)

I am new to Uke, but this book wasn't to hard to read. The only thing that is hard to do is some of the strum patterns are hard to determine. I love this book because most of the songs included are my favorite.

However, it came with the top right corner folded back and damaged in shipping. As it is a birthday gift for my daughter in Hawaii, I am disappointed.

Would love tabular, but this is a good book.

The core message of their new book is acknowledging that the marketing world, as we have known it since the dawn of the big three (print, radio, and TV), is our past and that marketing doesn’t have to be just a cost center anymore. When done well – brands can actually create a profit center from their marketing efforts. Instead of your marketing requiring additional financial resources – what if it generated new dollars? We’ve all heard the idea that about brands should become media companies. You may not want to take your company quite that far. But wouldn’t you like to make money with your marketing efforts?The book isn’t suggesting that you abandon your core business model and become an organization that generates revenue the way a traditional media company does. Nor is it suggesting that you should abandon your paid and earned media efforts. For most organizations, there will always be a benefit to those channels.But what the authors are suggesting is that businesses today also need a profit-generating owned media strategy that will give you an unfair competitive advantage.The book goes on to outline how a traditional company, who has been marketing in more traditional ways, can turn their marketing focus/efforts on its side and come out with a model of generating revenue from their marketing efforts.As with anything Joe and Robert do – I’m a fan. I think they’re insightful thinkers who have walked out what they teach (check out the Content Marketing Institute site) and continue to refine their viewpoint as things evolve.Check out the book. Re-think your plan for 2018. Begin to build your channel and the equity it can bring your organization.

As much as I agree with the book's main focus: the importance of building relevant content as a way to market products and services to customers. I think the authors could've said this is a 30-page paper. Upon reading, it felt more like a long, long sales brochure for Pulizzi and Rose's prior works, rather than original content. With such a strong title you'd expect a more insightful book.The book is overly repetitive with examples like Red Bull and Arrow, being mentioned over and over. I was actually quite surprised by the good reviews posted, all five stars!! No way... something fishy...Save your time and money and just Google the subject to get the same general concept.

One of the main things I agree with os the fact that we, as companies cannot be at the mercy of the media gatekeepers. It always boils down to the media provider agenda and not truly to the advertisers objective. We have seen it with it this last year with the scandals of FB and the US elections. I recently wrote an article about how Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google, influence consumer behavior to pursue their own agenda. If you want to tell the truth about your brand, you got to be honest and do it yourself. Your audience will keep you honest. Why because you can say whatever you want about your brand, it does not matter. You do not control the narrative over your brand, your audience does. So the best thing you can do is join their conversations and built your brand by being truly engaged with both, the audience that hates you and the audience that loves you.

As the director of content marketing at Cleveland Clinic, the 2016 Content Marketer of the Year, and an interviewee for this book, I absolutely endorse it with all of my heart. It is an incredibly thought-provoking look at how marketing departments are being disrupted by the shift to content, focusing on companies that have been able to turn marketing activities into revenue-generating media/publishing organizations. I highly recommend this book to anyone working in content marketing, but more importantly to any executive looking to take their marketing vision forward. I loved every chapter, learned so much from the examples presented and I just got more excited about being a content marketer every time I turned the page! Fantastic work, Joe & Robert!

This book, without being a revelation, brings up a very interesting approach not so much to marketing itself, but to the way we perceive our marketing endeavours as well as in the expectations we should have of the results of any marketing action we take.VALUABLE content as marketing simply makes sense. And to be frank, this book is a perfect example of it. Through this book, the authors are building an incredibly engaged audience of people related as closely as it gets to the market they're in while making a profit from selling the content in the book.Great way to lead by example guys!

This book is at the top of my recommended short list for every CEO and CMO I know. Joe's views are spot on -- identifying trends that are rapidly changing the face of marketing, and describing in clear, pragmatic terms how companies can adapt and thrive. This is about more than just an evolutionary trend. It's about taking everything we think we know about demand marketing and turning it on its head.

This book’s only premise is that marketing should make a profit as a standalone unit like Red Bull Media. The rest is shameless advertising for their Content Marketing Institute.

Most content marketing books go in-depth about figuring out who you are and how to create a story around it. Although that is important, they don't really cover exactly how content marketing can be used as a function of business to increase revenue and drop costs. This book covers that.
